Kindergarten and Labor Day

***Natalie had her first day of kindergarten yesterday. She got on that bus and never looked back! I thought I might lose it right there at the bus stop but I held it together. I did get in the car and meet her bus at school so I could take more pictures and see her walk into the building. Let's just say driving away from the school there was no sad, sappy songs allowed in my car. One started to play on the radio and that's when the tears began to flow. I took care of that real quick with a little dose of Metallica and a trip to Target:) In case you didn't know it, Target mends all broken hearts:)
***Friday we have at least 10 family members coming to stay with us for the holiday weekend. While I love my family to death and so look forward to their visit, I. Am. Stressed! This happens every time. I feel the need to have everything clean and orderly, when you know that with that many people it's gonna get trashed:)
***While I visited Joy's sprainting party I never did end up posting any pictures. I've just had a little too much on my plate lately and have come to the realization that since I have discovered soooo many great blogs I am not spending enough time with my husband. I've been putting the kids to bed then jumping right on the computer and sometimes staying there until the wee hours of the morning. I can't do it anymore. I'm still gonna read my favorites and contribute to my own blog but I'm keeping it to a minimum. Family First.

Party

I'm gearing up for a party! This is no ordinary party. It's a paint party, more specifically a spray paint party. Joy at http://joysofhome.blogspot.com/ (still don't know how to link right) is hosting and I know there will be lots of excellent photos of projects. Lately I have done so much spray painting that it has become an addiction. So much that I now fondly refer to it as sprainting. I find myself walking around the house looking for something, anything that could use a change. I know I'll find some much needed inspiration over at Joy's!

Eddie Vedder

We went last night to see theoneandonlymanIwouldeverleavemyhusbandfor:) I'm pretty sure he was pointing and singing to me way up there in the balcony. A girl could dream right?! Is it wrong to have a crush on a waaay unattainable rockstar? The same crush for 17 years?!?! Don't answer. It doesn't matter:) I'm gonna keep on lovin me some Eddie!

Fall IS on it's way!

While walking towards the front door to check on the girls playing outside, I noticed this. A gentle breeze. It was definitely still warm out but not so warm that I couldn't feel the beginnings of a season change. Come to me Fall, I'm ready:)

I survived!

Well, Sydney's first day of school was a success! She loves her new teacher and has made some new friends as well as getting reaquainted with some old classmates. And to keep her on her toes, she has homework on the first day of school:)

Natalie started the day by jumping out of bed as soon as her alarm went off. For those that know her, this is sooo not her. She is a sleeper and can be difficult to wake up. Not today! She was very excited to meet her teacher. You don't know how many times I had to explain to her that she isn't really starting school until Monday. That girl is ready!
I'm still nervous about how I will be on Monday! They will both be getting on the bus and then I will be left here to wonder how life got us to this point already. My #1 baby in 3rd grade and my little #2 baby going off to "real" school already. Where has the time gone?!

Third grade!

My #1 baby is starting 3rd grade tomorrow! I'm supposed to be skipping and singing that school is back in session. I'm not. I'm going to miss big girl:( I've came to the realization that the older they get the easier life is- certain aspects at least. I'm not running all around like a crazy person taking care of them like when they were small. We are more able to do fun things together. And we have done A LOT of FUN things this summer. Just us as a family.

#2 baby has kindergarten orientation tomorrow and testing this week but doesn't officially start until next Monday. Wonder how I will feel then?! I'm all verklempt! Talk amongst yourselves. I'm so verklempt that I can't even give you a topic.

Millenium Park

Bill and I took the girls to the city for the day. It was our first time visiting Millenium Park and the four of us really had a good time:) Just trying to enjoy our last few days of summer break!

This is the first time I've used Picasa but I believe you can click on the collage and it will enlarge. I didn't realize the pictures would be so small!

I'm a weiner!

Well, that's stating the obvious but I was actually a winner. A little while back Jennifer at http://wilson-six.blogspot.com/ was hosting a giveaway. She is fortunate enough to be near a ribbon outlet and was kind enough to send some my way. I can't wait to create something with it. I'm already thinking of a project for the girls' soon to be pink and brown bathroom!

I've only been visiting Jenninfer's blog for a short while but she seems like someone I would want for a friend in real life:) She is one creative and crafty gal and even has her own Etsy shop. Definitely check her out:) While I was taking a picture of the ribbon I just had to snap another picture of my Duncan Phyfe table. It was a wedding gift to my Grandma and Grandpa. I believe it's around 60 years old. If I had know I would feel the need to post a picture of it I would have moved the chair out of the way so you could see it better. And you can't even see the legs which is the prettiest part of the table. Oh well, you get the idea:) I will always love this table.
And while I'm in the mood to post pictures, here is one of the girls getting their school supplies together. After I took the picture I found even more that was to be included. I am sad to say that I have purchased everything on their lists. Say goodbye to the back to school shopping high:)
Say hello to homework, lunch boxes, forgotten milk money and library books:)

Sydney's Summer Recital

Sydney had a piano recital Friday night. This recital was a little different from her other recitals as she had to play her piece from memory. Her teacher also asked that all the students read a paragraph about the composer. She played Pizzicato Polka by Johann Strauss, Jr. I recorded this with my camera so the quality isn't the greatest but we were very proud of her. She didn't miss a beat:)

August 8, 2008

Today is opening ceremonies. The TV will be on be for 16 days straight! Can't wait!!

I was blogging in my sleep

That's right! I was just about to discover in my dream what I could possibly write about that was even remotely creative when it happened! The ever so dreaded middle of the night arm tap. Eyes bug open to discover little five year old up in arms over a bad dream. I tried all the nice things I usually try to squelch little persons thoughts of climbing into bed with us. "It's ok, I'm right across the hall." "Hug your Webkinz real tight." Blah Blah Blah. Don't get me wrong, I love the thought of the three of us cuddling but let's be real! If she comes in our bed I'll have to share my pillow with her. I'll choke on her hair. I'll have two knobby knees in my back. And I might possibly be given a black eye by her flailing arms. All. while. The. Dad. Sleeps. Soundly!!!
I did end up getting her to go back to her own bed. It didn't help. She just laid in there and cried. I put my good ear to the pillow(one and only consolation for having a brain tumor) and tried to tune her out. Didn't work. Slapped the Dad 62 times to go take care of her. By then I am WIDE awake and he ended up sleeping in her bed with her. Here's to hoping I can muster up enough energy to complete at least one project today. I painted an old dresser yesterday and I already know I'm going to need help from one of my 4 readers:)

On a happier note!

Yesterday we went with friends to see Kit Kittredge. I realize it has been out for a while but if you haven't see it yet, go! What a good movie. The girls loved it. I loved it. It had a great message. Just wish I would have known to pull out the kleenex before the movie started!!

EVERYTHING is getting under my skin. EVERYTHING! How am I supposed to be a good mom?! Please tell me this will get better?!?!

Lollapalooza 2008

We survived! It. Was. Hot! We had a great time though! Three days of just the two of us! Couldn't get any better:)
